Mumbai: Chinese smartphone maker Oppo is all set to debut its new F series, which has photography as its central focus, in India today. And the first phone to be introduced in India under its F series is the Oppo F1.
While the company is yet to announce the price of the Oppo F1 for the Indian market, the phone is priced in other markets at EUR 229/USD 250 (roughly translates to Rs 17,000). The phone, therefore, is expected to be priced in India under Rs 20,000.
The key highlight of the Oppo F1 is its 8 megapixel front camera with a wide f/2.0 aperture lens and a sensor size of 1/4 inch. If the company's claims are believed to be believed, its front camera can capture photos 30 per cent clearer than a standard 5 megapixel camera and 44 per cent brighter than those taken with an f/2.4 lens.
With the aim to help users take even better selfies in low-light conditions, the Oppo F1 has been equipped with a screen flash feature that converts the F1's entire display into a camera flash.
Talking about its design, the body of the F1 is made of a metal alloy. It features a 5-inch 720p display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 atop, and a 13 megapixel rear camera.
At its heart is a Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core 64-bit processor coupled with 3 GB of RAM. The dual-SIM phone runs Android 5.1-based ColorOS 2.1 and includes an internal storage space of 16 GB. The phone also supports a microSD card of up to 128 GB.
"The F series will inherit the excellent camera performance and exquisite design tradition," said Sky Li, OPPO vice president and managing director of International Mobile Business.
As announced by the company, the F series will be a core product series for Oppo in 2016.
