New Delhi: Director of special effects and the pioneer of monster movies, Eiji Tsuburaya has been accredited with creating the Ultraman, co-creating Godzilla, and bringing the live action genre ‘Toksatsu’ to the global cinematic mainstream.
Celebrating the 114th birthday of the Japanese director, today’s interactive doodle charts the style of the man who brought forth powerful on-screen effects which still inspire modern movies.
Doodler Jennifer Hom describes that Tsuburaya’s style is still seen in movies like Pacific Rim, Evangelion, and the Power Rangers.
To create the interactive doodle, Hom visited Tsuburaya’s production in person to be able to recreate the filmmaking experience within the doodle. The emphasis was laid upon presenting the challenges Tokusatsu filmmaking contains.
You can create your own Tokusatsu thriller by playing the latest Google Doodle.
