Both the Motorola Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus smartphones look very similar and comes in a metal body. While the Moto G5 offers a 5-inch Full HD IPS LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, the Moto G5 Plus is slightly bigger at 5.2-inch with same display features.

Lenovo-owned Moto has launched the cheaper Moto G5 smartphone in India on April 4. While both the Moto G5 smartphones were unveiled at MWC 2017 in February, Moto decided to keep quiet about the more affordable Moto G5 in India earlier. The company went ahead to launch the slightly expensive Moto G5 Plus in all glory for a starting price of Rs 14,999 in March.

Barely just 15 days of the launch of the Plus variant, the Moto G5 launch date in India was announced. Last year, both the Moto G4 and G4 Plus was launched together in the country in May for a starting price of Rs 13,499.

Both the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus smartphones look very similar and comes in a metal body. While the Moto G5 offers a 5-inch Full HD IPS LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, the Moto G5 Plus is slightly bigger at 5.2-inch with same display features.

Interestingly, the metal back panel of the smaller Moto G5 can be opened to take out the removable 2,800mAh battery. There is a fingerprint scanner in the front on both the handsets. While the rear camera module in the bigger Moto G5 Plus protrudes, the smaller Moto G5 offers a smooth rear finish with no rear camera protrusion. Both the smartphones run on stock Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. Processor

While the Plus variant is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor the Moto G5 runs an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor.

Moto G5 Plus comes with 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage for Rs 14,999 while the 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage variant costs Rs 16,999.

Camera

The front cameras of both the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus are exactly the same 5MP f/2.2 units. The rear camera of the bigger Moto G5 Plus is 12MP f/1.7 with dual-LED Flash and auto-focus while the smaller Moto G5 offers a 13MP f/2.0 module with PDAF and single LED Flash. Battery

The Moto G5 aims to compete in the more competitive price-bracket of under Rs 12,000 while the the Plus variant takes on the mid-range Rs 15,000 segment. However, both the smartphones have a very similar experience to offer and for someone on a tight budget, the Moto G5 could mean a better deal.
