New Delhi: Google has confirmed that it is soon going to roll out its second-generation Chromebook Pixel, but there will only be a small number of the said device.
Tech website, OMG Chrome, posted a video (now in private viewing mode) where Google's Renee Niemi, Director of the Android and Chrome Global Business Unit, talked at the Team Work 2015 event about the successor to the high-end 2013 model of the device.
Niemi said that the Chromebook Pixel 2- a 'proof of concept' will be a development platform and they will not be making many of them.
Its predecessor, Chromebook Pixel, sports high-resolution screen displaying 239 pixels per inch, slightly more than Apple's MacBooks with high-resolution Retina displays and Google has been partnering with PC makers like Samsung and Acer to make Chromebooks.
It is speculated that the Pixel 2 will retain both the look and design of the original and have a 12.85-inch screen at an equally eye-popping resolution as the first; have built-in fans, and feature the new reversible 'Type-C' USB ports.
Other indications suggest that it could ship with Chromium's new 'Freon' pseudo-display server replacement and run on Intel's new Skylake processor.
