Elon Musk Will Ban Apple Devices If ChatGPT Is Integrated At OS Level: Here's What He Means
Elon Musk has warned about banning the use and access to Apple devices at his companies if the iPhone maker integrates OpenAI at the operating system level.

Elon Musk has talked about banning Apple devices at his companies if the company goes ahead with its plans to bring OpenAI tech at the OS level. He shared this warning via a post on X, which says,

"That is an unacceptable security violation," Musk, who is the CEO of electric-vehicle maker Tesla and rocket maker SpaceX and owner of social media company X, said in a post on X.

He even mentioned that visitors bringing Apple devices to his companies will be asked to check their iPhones at the security where it will be stored in a cage.

"And visitors will have to check their Apple devices at the door, where they will be stored in a Faraday cage," he said.

Apple and OpenAI confirmed their deal which brings ChatGPT 4o to iOS, macOS and iPadOS for free with certain limits. Apple says you can even link your paid OpenAI membership to get more benefits and access on these devices later this year. Musk has this tendency to overblow certain things and the decision to ban Apple devices is just the latest one added to his list.

The company has extensively talked about keeping user data private, even when they link it through OpenAI on its devices. However, Musk feels that OpenAI will use its shady practices and try to source your data behind Apple’s backs.

Apple is extensively using in-house hardware and chips to keep the data on-device, while some other applications will be processed through the cloud server, especially when it adopts other third-party AI models into the Apple Intelligence ecosystem.

Musk pointed out that Apple should have resorted to making its own AI model rather than partner with companies like OpenAI.

These quotes from Musk hardly come as a surprise, as we all know his public sentiments and hatred towards OpenAI and Sam Altman.

Musk had sued OpenAI, which he co-founded in 2015, and its CEO Sam Altman at the beginning of March, saying they abandoned the startup's original mission to develop AI for the benefit of humanity and not for profit.

He has also founded his own startup, xAI, in a bid to challenge OpenAI and build an alternative to the viral chatbot ChatGPT.
