We are witnessing a variety of announcements at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show ranging from large-scale LED TVs to new PC hardware and so much more. Even the notebook category saw a mix of ultra-slim and gaming beasts wooing potential consumers.
Here are some of the splendid laptops that were announced during the annual tech expo.
Acer Predator Triton 900
Once again, Acer has launched a behemoth of a laptop under its Predator gaming brand. This 17-inch notebook features an Ezel hinge system allowing the notebook to be a desktop replacement device. The screen can be rotated around so you can use it with an external keyboard and mouse. Speaking of which, it features a 17.3-inch 3840x2160 G-SYNC display. Inside there is an Intel Core i7-8750H processor, with up to 32GB RAM and the newly announced laptop form-factor Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080. As for storage there are two 512GB SSDs in RAID 0. It is priced at a whopping $3999 (Rs 2,81,000 approx) and should hit markets in the month of March.
Dell Alienware m15
Alienware is a brand that needs no introduction. It announced a refresh of its popular m15 gaming notebook with Intel’s latest 8th-gen mobile CPUs including its six-core Core i9-8950HK CPUs. It will now be offered with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 2060, RTX 2070 Max-Q, or 2080 Max-Q graphics processors along with entry level configurations featuring the GTX 1050 Ti. Asus StudioBook S
One of the most impressive notebooks launched at the show, the StudioBook S from Asus aims at bringing workstation performance in a laptop form-factor. The machine packs Intel Xeon processors with Nvidia Quadro P3200 graphics, up to 64GB of RAM and 4TB of SSD in RAID 0, Wi-Fi 6, and a 180-degree hinge. Asus has also managed to squeeze in a 17-inch Pantone validate display with 97 percent DCI-P3, in a 15-inch chassis. Apart from being portable, it is also quite impressive to look at as it comes in a Turquoise Grey aluminum finish.
Asus ROG Mothership
Clearly the most eye-catching product was the ROG Mothership convertible gaming notebook. Asus has reimagined how a gaming notebook should be by taking inspiration from Microsoft’s Surface Pro. Instead of packing all the hardware under the keyboard, Asus has put everything behind the display allowing better airflow all-around. Thanks to that, the 17-inch gaming laptop packs in the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 GPU, an overclocked Intel Core i9-8950HK and a lot more. According to Asus, the entire machine, comes with a CNC-machined aluminum frame, including the kickstand. The RGB-lit keyboard is detachable and can be used in different ways. The device looks like a Surface on steroids and when you are not gaming, you can use it as an AIO (All-in-One).
Acer Swift 7
Acer revealed one of its slimmest notebooks at CES this year with a 92 percent screen-to-body ratio. The all-new Acer Swift 7 features a 14-inch full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on top. It offers a thickness of 9.95mm but it weighs just 890 grams, which quite something for a 14-inch laptop. Having said that, it comes with only decent specifications including a 1080p resolution panel, an 8th-Gen Intel Core i7-8500Y Amber Lake processor, up to 512GB of SSD storage, and up to 16GB RAM.
Asus ZenBook S13
Once again we have a product from Asus, this time with a super-slim design. The ZenBook S13 is claimed to be the world’s slimmest display bezel measuring at just 2.5mm. Asus has also reversed the notch placed on top of the 13.9-inch full HD display, to place the webcam and microphone. On the inside, you get 8th-Gen Intel Core i7 processor paired with NVIDIA GeForce MX150 GPU for graphics, up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
