Apple Vision Pro mixed-reality headset was announced in June earlier this year. At that time, the iPhone maker revealed that the device would be launched in early 2023. Now, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple could potentially launch the headset in just a few weeks time—in February 2024.
According to the report, the company is accelerating the production of the headset, running at full capacity in Chinese factories. This effort aligns with Apple’s goal to have ‘customer-bound units’ ready by the end of January, with a subsequent launch in February.
This information also corresponds with Gurman’s earlier reporting that Apple was preparing its store employees and providing training for the same. Apple aims to simplify the Vision Pro setup process for its customers, recognising that the headset requires customisation for each user. And, incorrect setup could impact the overall user experience.
Another sign pointing towards the imminent launch is Apple’s recent introduction of the ability to record Spatial Videos on the iPhone 15 Pro models with the iOS 17.2 update. This feature was added so that users could have content ready to enjoy immediately upon buying the Vision Pro.
However, it’s important to note that the device will initially be exclusive to the US market and will have a price tag of $3,499, approximately Rs 2.9 lakh. The timeline for its availability in other parts of the world, such as Europe and India, remains uncertain, given the substantial effort required at Apple’s retail facilities.
