Apple’s first-generation HomePod was launched in 2018, and since then, we have seen the iPhone maker release two generations of it, along with the HomePod Mini. The second generation improved on many aspects compared to the first-generation product, but there has been no overhaul of the project at large. However, this could soon change when Apple launches a major redesign with a curved LCD display, as per Apple tipster Kosutami.

While we have heard rumors about the potential upgrade back in October, the tipster has now shared new information about it. She mentions that this new HomePod, codenamed B720, is expected to feature a curved display panel on the top of the speaker, and has also shared images that could be the top housing of the product. Everything else is expected to remain the same.

It must be noted that the tipster shared leaks showing components for the same earlier this year. In fact, Apple analysts Mark Gurman and Ming-Chi Kuo have also suggested that Apple is working on a HomePod with a display.
It will be intriguing to see the potential use cases of the alleged display in the HomePod if/when it comes out. Reports thus far suggest that Apple might offer users a blurred animation based on the album art or song. Moreover, it may also allow users to reply to messages and answer phone calls.
Apart from the leaked components, there is no word currently on when users should expect this upgraded HomePod. And, of course, until Apple officially unveils it, this information should be taken with a grain of salt, considering production plans could always change at the last moment.
