Man Seeks Pune Top Cop's Help in Asking Out Woman, His Reply is Winning the Internet

The Pune Police Commissioner won hearts on the internet for his sensible answer to an innocent question asked to him during a live interaction on microblogging site Twitter.

On March 8, Monday, Pune police commissioner Amitabh Gupta went live on Twitter as a part of #LetsTalkCPPuneCity initiative and during the live interaction with the people, a person requested Gupta to ‘do something’ to convince his friend to accept his love proposal.

But Gupta’s thoughtful response is earning him more respect and applause. Gupta told the person that without the girl’s consent he couldn’t be of any help and advised the man not to do anything against her will. On March 8, Gupta wrote on Twitter “Unfortunately, without her consent, we can’t be of any help. Nor should you do anything against her will.” He further added that if the girl agrees someday to the proposal, the boy has his best wishes and blessings and added the tweet with, ‘#ANoMeansNo.’

The tweet by Gupta has left some netizens wondering as some were wondering why did the Commissioner replied to a query like that, while others praised for his strong message to people not to harass women and respect consent.

One of the users wrote that he should warn the person not to do anything ‘injurious’ or ‘defamatory’ to the girl.

Another woman praised the response and wrote that the tweet is a message against harassment.

The response earned him admiration from many women who thanked him for the approach and advising the man to respect the girl’s wishes. Another user lauded his ‘ANoMeansNo’ reply.

The interaction lasted for about an hour where Gupta responded to a wide range of queries of people ranging from Covid rules, women’s safety, violations of rules.
