Lucknow: Senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh on Thursday demanded the resignation of Congress-led UPA Government on moral grounds following a spate of scams facing the ruling coalition.
"The entire UPA government is in the dock over 2G scam and it has lost moral right to continue to be in power," Singh told reporters on the sidelines of the party's Samajik Nyaya Sammelan in Lucknow.
"The UPA Government should resign on moral grounds and mid-term polls should be held to pave way for the new government," he said.
Singh also demanded a CBI probe into the role of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in the 2G scam.
He lauded social activist Anna Hazare for creating awareness in the country against corruption.
"Those who have been ruling the country for a long time are responsible for poverty and unemployment," he said.
