New Delhi: Team Anna on Wednesday said it was waiting for a written commitment from the Government on its demands over the Lokpal issue. RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal, key member of the civil society, also said that the Lokpal Bill can be "passed in 24 hours and it is a very simple law".
"Let us see what kind of written commitment is given by the government," he told reporters at the Ramlila Maidan, the venue of Hazare's fast demanding a strong Lokpal.
"It can be done in 24 hours. I have worked with the government. It is a very simple law," he said.
Kejriwal said the Government side told them that the sticking points were bringing lower bureaucracy under Lokpal, preparing a citizen's charter and setting up of Lokayuktas in states.
On whether the government had any problems in bringing the Prime Minister under Lokpal, he said, "They did not discuss that. So we can assume that because we asked them what are the problems you have with Jan Lokpal and they said these were the three sticking points."
Government representatives and Team Anna members met for the first time on Tuesday ever since the crisis erupted on August 16 after Hazare was arrested by police.
