New Delhi: Whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rallies across the national capital will be able to propel the Bharatiya Janata Party to power in Delhi will be known only on February 10, they are proving to be highly profitable for the street vendors. Vendors selling food items at Modi's rally venues are making huge profits as thousand gather to watch and listen to him.
Modi on Tuesday addressed a rally at Japanese Park in Rohini which was attended by about 12,000 people. Yhe business of street vendors selling 'jhaal-moodi', 'ram laddoo', 'papad' flourished as people stopped by their stalls to satisfy their hunger.
One of the vendors said, "Today I made a huge profit as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing a rally here. Sales have gone up today. I usually earn Rs 300 per day but here I have already earned Rs 1000 in 3 hours."
There were dozens of vendors near the rally venue and all of them were doing brisk business.
A young vendor admitted that he looked forward to such rallies as they were very good for business.
People from Rohini and nearby constituencies like Nangloi Jat, Narela etc came in large numbers with their children to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister.
Many Central ministers, candidates from North and North East constituencies and chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi were present for the rally.
Ahead of voting on February 7, Modi is scheduled to address one more rally on Wednesday.
