SP demands CBI probe into UP ministers' assets
SP leader Shivpal Yadav alleged that even letters sent to the chief secretary failed to evoke response.

Lucknow: Accusing the Uttar Pradesh government of being neck deep into corruption, Samajwadi Party on Thursday demanded a CBI probe into assets of the state ministers, including Chief Minister Mayawati.

"A CBI inquiry should be conducted into the movable, immovable and benami assets of BSP ministers, including the CM," Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly Shivpal Yadav told reporters in Lucknow.

He said if a thorough inquiry is conducted then all those occupying important officers will be behind the bars.

"If an inquiry is conducted then a scam of around Rs 3 lakh crore would come to the fore as corruption is rampant in almost all the department," he alleged.

Yadav said he had submitted a number of memorandums in this regard to the Governor but not a single inquiry had been made so far.

"Even letters sent to the chief secretary failed to evoke response," he alleged.

Yadav demanded that the government should also issue a white paper on land acquisition.

"Land was acquired at throw away prices from the farmers and was handed over to the capitalists," he alleged.
