Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and his one-time close confidant Amar Singh shared a dais at an event in Lucknow. Mulayam and Amar Singh had had parted ways in 2010 after a bitter political feud and with both of them sharing a dais has sparked speculation on whether the latter is set to return to the Samajwadi Party fold.
Amar Singh said that he was invited by Mulayam and that there were no political implications of the meeting.
"I and Mulayam Singh Yadav are doing social work for a senior political leader who is not with us. To be not present at such an occasion is not good," he said before the start of the function for inauguration of Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow. Singh said, "He (Mulayam) requested me and I have gone ahead. To add political connotation to it or to look at it in political light is extremely wrong."
However, according to sources Samajwadi party leader Azam Khan skipped the event.
In 2012 Amar Singh along with actor Jaya Prada floated their party the Rashtirya Lok Manch.
During the 2014 Lok Sabha elections Amar Singh contested from Fatehpur Sikri seat of Uttar Pradesh on Ajit Singh's Rashtirya Lok Dal ticket and lost. His Rajya Sabha tenure is also going to end later in 2014.
