Rajnath Singh flays opposition attack, says it's NDA, no minister will resign
Union Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje are embroiled in the controversy involving former IPL chief Lalit Modi for allegedly helping him.

New Delhi: Unfazed by the Congress's threat of derailing proceedings in the Monsoon session of Parliament, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that no Bharatiya Janata Party leader will step down. The remarks came as the opposition has upped the ante against BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj, Vasundhara Raje and Smriti Irani demanding their resignations.

Singh said, "Our ministers do not have to resign; This is not their (Congress's) government, this is NDA government."

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah question Singh by asking, "So UPA was wrong to get Ministers to resign? What exactly is the Home Minister saying here?"

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje are embroiled in the controversy involving former Indian Premier League chief Lalit Modi for allegedly helping him.

Sushma stirred a controversy after she had admitted that she had no objection to Modi's request to travel out of the United Kingdom for his wife's treatment in Portugal and spoke regarding this with British Keitz Vaz and the British High Commissioner.

Vasundhara came in the line of fire after it was revealed that she allegedly helped Modi to get stay permit in the UK in 2011 when she was the leader of opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly. It was also revealed that her government signed an Memorandum of Understanding with the Portugal hospital where Modi's wife was treated.

Human Resources Development Minister Smriti Irani has been accused of giving "false" information about her educational qualification in affidavits filed with the Election Commission.

The complaint filed by freelance writer Ahmer Khan with a Delhi court alleged that Irani in her three affidavits before the EC while filing nominations for her candidature for Lok Sabha as well as Rajya Sabha polls had purportedly given different details about her educational qualification.

Demanding Irani's resignation, Maken said, "Wouldn't it be a conflict of interest if Education Minister herself would be investigating her own Delhi University degree. We demand immediate resignation of Smriti Irani."

Under opposition's attack is now Maharashtra BJP Minister Pankaja Munde who is accused of flouting norms in a Rs-206 crore order she placed during her tenure as Maharashtra women and child development minister.

The minister had allegedly cleared purchase of chikki, mats and books for Rs 206 crore without floating tenders for the same. According to rules, any government purchase above Rs 3 lakh has to be done through e-tendering.
