New Delhi: Amid speculation of Rahul Gandhi assuming a larger role in the Congress, the BJP on Tuesday said his performance over the years speaks for itself and the Congress general secretary had failed to leave his mark in assembly polls in several states.
Answering queries, Bharatiya Janata Party spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad said the Congress gave credit to Gandhi but did not acknowledge his failures.
He said Gandhi's performance as an MP speaks for itself.
Prasad said he was "really craving for an effective intervention (by Gandhi) in parliamentary debate".
Referring to Gandhi's campaign in assembly polls in Bihar, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, Prasad said the Congress leader failed to deliver results.
"All credit to Rahul Gandhi. No failure of Rahul Gandhi... He cannot do anything wrong. Good luck to his party," he said.
There is speculation that Gandhi will assume a larger role in party, government or both in the coming days. Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh had indicated that Gandhi could assume a bigger role in September.
