New Delhi: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the spiralling price of essential items and said a new slogan doing the round now is "Arhar Modi".
Rahul slammed Modi over making hollow prices to control price rise and questioned why he did not raise the issue during the celebrations of two years of his government.
"You may make as many "hollow promises" as you want but give a date by when prices of daal will come down," Rahul asked the Prime Minister.
Listing the difference between the price of essential items during Congress-led UPA government in 2014 and BJP-led NDA government, Rahul was all set to take on the government with his data.
Hitting out at Modi, Rahul reminded him of his election promise where he vowed to be 'chowkidaar' of the country. "Aap toh ab bade aadmi ho gaye hai. Ab chowkidaar ke naak ne neeche, daal ki choori ho rahi hai. Chowkidaari Congress ko karne dijiye, ab aap kya chowkidaari karenge (You are now a big name. Under that Chowkidaar's nose, daal is being stolen Let Congress do the work of a watchman)," Rahul said in Lok Sabha.
