Launching a scathing attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday said Modi cannot digest the fact that a non-Bharatiya Janata Party government is working for the development of Bihar.
Nitish said Modi talks of co-operative federalism but behaves just the opposite by insulting states. "Instead of patting on our back for the development in Bihar. PM is making mockery of us," he said.
Questioning Modi's facts, Nitish said, "I am sometimes very surprised and wonder as to from where does he get his facts?"
Earlier on Tuesday, Modi had announced a stupendous Rs 1.25 lakh crore economic package for poll-bound Bihar. "I am here today to honour my promise. I had said Rs 50,000 crore...how much do you want? Rs 60,000 crore, Rs 70,000 crore, or 80 or 90,0000 crore? I am announcing a package of Rs 1.25 lakh crore. The government in Delhi will spend Rs 1.25 lakh crore to change Bihar's destiny," Modi had said.
Talking about Modi's Bihar package, Nitish said, "It seemed PM Modi was bidding for Bihar while announcing package for the state. Special assistance is Bihar's right and not a favour."
Devoid of a leader with pan-Bihar mass appeal, BJP-led NDA has chosen to bank on Modi's charisma to wrest Bihar from JD(U), which has been in power for the last one decade, part of it in alliance with the the saffron party.
