Modi vs Advani: Karnataka BJP meeting cancelled
The meeting had been convened to discuss Narendra Modi's Karnataka tour in mid-October.

New Delhi: It seems former BJP ideologue Sudheendra Kulkarni is right on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's polarising character. Modi has now polarised the Karnataka BJP. The state BJP was forced to cancel its core committee meeting scheduled for Thursday.

The meeting was convened to discuss Narendra Modi's Karnataka tour in mid-October. Modi has agreed to address four public meetings in the state.

M Venkaiah Naidu, who is an MP (Rajya Sabha) from Karnataka had come from New Delhi for the meeting. The state BJP president Prahlad Joshi, known as BJP National General Secretary Ananth Kumar's man, cancelled the meeting in the morning saying that Ananth Kumar is in New Delhi.

Ananth Kumar is a close confidante of LK Advani. Venkaiah Naidu, former state unit chief KS Eshwarappa and former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda objected to the cancellation of the meeting, just because Ananth Kumar is away. A majority in the Karnataka BJP is supporting Modi.

But, the state BJP President Prahlad Joshi says the meeting was convened to discuss Lok Sabha candidates and Modi was not on the agenda. Some heated words were also exchanged between the leaders after the meeting was cancelled.
