New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Friday confirmed that the much awaited Union Cabinet reshuffle will take place soon.
Though he did not specify the date but party insiders claimed that it is likely to happen in the first week of June. "Cabinet reshuffle will happen soon. The date is not yet fixed," he said in a press conference at BJP headquarters in Delhi.
The Cabinet will get a new minister of state for sports (independent charge), which is vacant after Sarbananda Sonowal became the Chief Minister of Assam.
There are speculations that Modi may axe some ministers because of their poor performances and failure in achieving the government's goals.
Senior BJP leaders like Arun Jaitley, Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Nitin Gadkari are expected to keep their Cabinet portfolios.
