Hyderabad: Tension prevailed in the Mirchowk area on Tuesday after supporters of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) and Congress clashed during the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls.
Trouble started after Congress candidate Mohammad Gouse and Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) MLA Pasha Quadri engaged in heated arguments.
Situation worsens after they were taken in to police custody. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief Uttam Kumar Reddy and MIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi reached there, which escalated tension between the two groups.
Police had to resort to mild lathi-charge to disperse the agitated mob.
