Badaun (Uttar Pradesh): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) former union minister and senior leader Maneka Gandhi has opposed the explusion of senior leader Jaswant Singh from the party over his controvertial book Jinnah-India, Partition, Independence.
"BJP leaders should have read the book on Jinnah written by Jaswant Singh before taking any decision ,'' she said.
Talking to media in her Parliamentary constituency Aonla, Gandhi said the decision by the party against Jasawnt Singh was certainly taken in a hurry, without going into the details.
The statement of the four-time MP gained importance as several BJP leaders were coming out in support of the former external affairs minister.
''Jaswant Singh is a nice person and I don't think why the party didn't give him a chance to give his clarification on the issue,'' she said, adding that such action only weakened the party.
