Jaya's win bigger than Mamata's

Latest Trends in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal elections indicate that the J.Jayalalitha-led AIADMK alliance and the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC-Congress are slated to form the next governments in Chennai and Kolkata respectively.

Mathematically speaking, Jaya’s victory seems bigger than Mamata's. Till now (11.13 am), Jaya is leading in or has won from 191 seats out of a total 234 seats. That's a whopping 81.5 per cent of the total Assembly seats.

Mamata, though the enormity and significance of her task is in no way less, has emerged front runner in 219 seats out of a total of 294 seats. That is again a handsome 74 per cent of the West Bengal Assembly's seating capacity.

So in this battle of spinsters, it seems the southern lady has got the better of the firebrand leader of the east.
