Chennai: Tamil Nadu's main Opposition AIADMK lost an ally as PMK on Sunday decided to snap its ties with it.
The decision came in a meeting of the PMK working council, held at Thailapuram near Dindivanam, around 125 km from here, under the chairmanship of G K Mani. The meet was also attended by PMK founder S Ramadoss.
The party said in a statement that the decision came after the AIADMK refused to heed to its request in a court case.
When the AIADMK was in power in the state, a police case was registered against Ramadoss and his family members including son Anbumani Ramadoss.
While police acquitted Ramadoss and his family members, former Minister C V Shanmugam of AIADMK appealed before the Madras High Court to include them in the case.
PMK leader Mani last week met AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa, informed her about the matter and requested her to instruct her party leader not to proceed with the case.
As the request was not heeded to, the PMK has decided to snap its ties with AIADMK, the party said.
