Jayalalithaa wrote that the retrofitted Mullaperiyar dam was safe and was functioning as good as new.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the controversy surrounding the Mullaperiyar dam issue.
In her letter, the AIADMK chief requested the Prime Minister to advise the government of Kerala to ensure that miscreants refrained from disturbing public order and disrupting normal life.
She further wrote that the retrofitted Mullaperiyar dam was safe and was functioning as good as new.
"The government of Kerala should be advised to desist from the approach for building a new dam and not to escalate the issue," wrote the Tamil Nadu chief minister.
She pointed that the matter was sub-judice before the Supreme Court and the empowered committee.
