Jaswant wonders at Advani's long silence on sacking
Advani last week said he was not in favour of Jaswant Singh's expulsion.

Jaipur: Sacked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jaswant Singh on Tuesday reacted coldly to party veteran L K Advani's comments that he was not in favour of his expulsion, saying he will comment on it later and wondering why Advani remained silent for a month.

"He (Advani) remained silent for a month," Jaswant Singh said, adding: "I will comment on it two-three days later."

Advani last week said he was not in favour of his expulsion, contradicting what the party had maintained since the leader was sacked last month for his book praising Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, and denigrating India's first home minister Sardar Patel.

"These reports are correct that I was not in agreement with the decision to expel Jaswant Singh," Advani told a section of the media. But he refused to go into the details, stating: "I am not interested in any further controversy."

As against this, the party had maintained that the decision to sack him was taken at the Shimla meeting of the party's Parliamentary board -- its highest decision making body -- that was also attended by Advani.

Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj had told reporters after the sacking that the decision to expel Jaswant Singh was "painful but necessary".
