Patna: Just few hours before balloting for the third round of Bihar Assembly election, infighting and rebellion in the party have left candidates sleepless. The Rashtriya Janata Dal-Janata Dal United-Congress Mahagathbandhan and Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance are facing infighting and rebellion on a few seats.
News18 travelled to seven such seats where candidates are facing opposition from their own partymen.
Mahua: This constituency has came into limelight as RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav's son Tej Pratap is contesting from here. Lalu has used his experience to field his son from this seat as it is dominated by Yadav voters. But the ground reality has a different story to tell and 10 other Yadav candidates have spilled trouble for Tej Pratap and the advantage is with BJP's Ravindra Rai. The rebel candidates Jageshwar Yadav and Vinod Yadav have stronghold in this constituency. And in case, Yadav votes get divided, Tej Pratap's dream to become an MLA may shatter.
Raghopur: Adjacent to Mahua constituency, Lalu's second Son Tejashwi Yadav is in the fray from Raghopur seat. This seat was won by Satish Rai on JDU ticket in 2010 but this time he is contesting from BJP symbol. There are rumours in the region that one faction of the RJD is campaigning for Satish Rai.
Mokama: Independent candidate Anant Singh is giving a tough fight to NDA's Kanhaiya Singh and Mahagathbandhan candidate Neeraj Kumar from this seat. Lok Janshakti Party's rebel leader Lallan Singh is also in the fray from Pappu Yadav’s Jan Adhikar party. Whatever the result may be but people here say that the advantage is with the independent candidate.
Bihar Sharif: This seat is called bastion of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Here, Mahagathbandhan candidate Asgar Shamim has locked horns with NDA's Dr Sunil Kumar. As per the caste factor, Shamim was in strong position but former MLA Pappu Khan's wife Afreen Sultana is creating trouble for him. People here say that if she manages to gain 10,000 Muslim votes, BJP can win this seat.
Danapur: Definitely there is no feel good factor for BJP candidate from this seat. People are angry with the sitting BJP MLA Asha Sinha. In the last election Asha Sinha had defeated Reetlal Yadav by 18,000 votes. At present independent candidate Reetlal Yadav is an MLC from this constituency and no one can deny his influence. This is a reason for worry for BJP that voters are unhappy with Asha Sinha. The RJD has fielded Rajkishore Yadav from this constituency.
Manjhi: At present Gautam Singh is MLA from this seat and he fought the last election on JDU ticket. And no one can deny his influence here but now he is contesting this election on Hindustan Avam Morcha party ticket. Gautam Singh is feeling heat this time as Mahagathbandhan has advantage from this seat and this is the reason why NDA leaders are not leaving any stone unturned to win this seat.
Sonepur: In last elections, BJP had wrested the bastion of RJD Sonepur. In 2010, BJP’s Vinaya Kumar Singh defeated Lalu's wife Rabri Devi by over 24,000 votes. Again BJP has fielded Vinay Kumar Singh from here. The Mahagathbandhan has fielded RJD candidate Ramanuj Prasad from this seat. But this time Vinay Kumar Singh is facing stiff competition due to independent Vinay Samrat.
