New Delhi: Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray took the war of words against Congress and Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan to a new low.
Addressing a press conference in Mumbai on Wednesday Uddhav accused the Congress of being anti-Maharashtra and trying to split the state.
He said the Congress should not play with the sentiments of Mumbai and Maharashtrians.
“Congress wants to split Maharashtra, we will not let happen,” said Uddhav adding that Sena would not let the separation of Vidarbha from Maharashtra.
Uddhav also spit venom at Union Home Minister P Chidambaram for being soft on Pakistan and said that he wondered if he was the home minister of India or Pakistan.
He said, “Afzal Guru has still not been hanged I don’t understand if Chidambaram is the home minister of India or Pakistan.”
“Nobody should teach us about Mumbai's security," he added.
Returning his ire towards Rahul Gandhi's statements regarding NSG commandos who saved Mumbai during the 26/11 attacks being from all over India, Uddhav said, “Congress should guide Rahul Gandhi what he has to say. It was not just the people of Bihar and UP in the NSG. Shiv Sena knows what it has to do.”
“Rahul Gandhi forgot the sacrifice made by Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Tukaram Ombale,
I am proud of the Shiv Sainiks that they have started this protest without the help of the RSS," said Uddhav.
He also lashed out at Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan.
“I feel ashamed of this CM who is doing nothing for Maharashtra and following the lines of Rahul Gandhi,” he added.
“Why is Ashok Chavan not defending the interests of Maharashtra and the Marathi manoos. All other CMs defend the interests of their states.”
Earlier, the Sena issued another open threat to Shah Rukh Khan with party leader Sanjay Raut warning the actor that he must remember that his house was in Mumbai and not in Pakistan.
"They are speaking in favour of Pakistan sitting in Mumbai and in this country. We will not let this happen. This is Congress' opinion that Shah Rukh is voicing. Shah Rukh stays in Mumbai and Mannat (his residence) is also in Mumbai, not Pakistan," said Raut.
Shiv Sena has made it clear that the party would not allow the screening of SRK’s films in Mumbai until he apologised for his comments supporting Pakistani cricketers.
