New Delhi: Attack and counter-attack continue between the DMK and BJP in Tamil Nadu over the Ram Setu controversy.
On Monday, over 200 DMK workers burnt effigies and photographs of BJP leader L K Advani in Madurai.
The state BJP president, L A Ganesan, has accused DMK leaders of behaving like the al-Qaeda. He said BJP's protest would continue until the DMK government is dismissed.
“These kinds of acts will bring Karunanidhi a bad name. It will spoil the government's image,” said Ganesan.
DMK supporters had attacked the local BJP office on Sunday, which led to the Opposition asking for the dismissal of his government on condition of deteriorating law and order situation.
In an exclusive interview to CNN-IBN, the DMK chief, who triggered a chain of political rhetoric when he said Lord Ram is much a lie as the Himalayas and the Ganga are truths, said that there is no need for protests.
Karunanidhi also sought to play down the DMK Shipping Minister TR Baalu's firm refusal to change the alignment of the Sethusamudram project.
“We want the Sethusamudram project to go ahead. It is for the engineers to decide how to go about it - whether there should be realignment. That's not for me to decide,” the DMK supremo said.
Meanwhile, Karunanidhi has deputed senior DMK leader Arcot N Veerasamy to update the Centre of the situation in the state. He would be meeting senior Congress leaders in the Capital.
