New Delhi: Former National Security Guard commando Surender Singh has won the Delhi Cantonment constituency for Aam Aadmi Party defeating Karan Singh Tanwar of the Bharatiya Janata Party by a margin of 355 votes.

Surender served in the Indian Army for 14 years and fought in wars and several operations like Kargil War, Operation Parakram, Operation Sadbhavna, and Operation Black Thunder (NSG operations during 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks).

He has also taken part in the combing operation in response to 26/11 Mumbai attacks. He got critically injured while fighting against terrorists one-on-one and lost his hearing capability by.

He was released from his services following his handicapped situation after losing his hearing power. He was a key activist in Janlokpal movement.
