Cong, BJP expel rebels in Chhattisgarh
They are contesting the polls against the parties' official candidates.

Raipur: Chhattisgarh's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and main opposition Congress have expelled about three dozen people who are contesting the Assembly polls against the parties' official candidates.

Among eight rebels expelled by the BJP for six years are Chintamani Singh who is the son of late tribal leader Gahira Guru, Rajya Sabha Member Shivpratap Singh's son Vijay Pratap Singh and ex-MLA Veerendra Pande. BJP sources said that those expelled included Nirpat Rathiya, Abhimanyu Singh, Krishnakant Chandra and Shyamsundar Ratre.

The Congress oustees for six years included Tuleshwar Singh, Devsai Marawi, Maheshwar Paikra, Gopal Ram, Nityanand Pathak, Suraj Nirmalkar, Ganguram Baghel, Ramesh Singh, Tularam Gawde, Kandruram Bhagat, Jagdish Bairagi, Prafulla Kerketta, Gitanjali Patel, Sanjay Ramchandra and Gajmati Bhanu Sidar.
