Ahmedabad: Bharatiya Janata Party's Junagadh MP Dinubhai Solanki, who is suspected of being involved in the murder of Right to Information activist Amit Jethwa, is still missing.

Solanki skipped the monsoon session of Parliament on Monday and instead issued an advertisement in three Gujarati newspapers claiming innocence.

The BJP MP has not been seen since Jethwa was gunned down by two unidentified men outside the Gujarat High Court on July 21. Jethwa's father has claimed that Solanki role to play in his son's murder as the RTI activist had named the MP in his PIL on illegal mining in Gir Lion Sanctuary.

Jethwa was reportedly coming out of a building after meeting his lawyer and about to enter his vehicle when he was fired upon. Even though he was hit in the abdomen by the bullets, he tried to grapple with his assailants, who fled from after leaving behind their motorcycle.

Police inspector HM Kundaliya said Jethwa died on the spot after he was shot.
