New Delhi: The Delhi unit of the BJP on Sunday filed a complaint with the State Election Commission, alleging that Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had appealed to the people for votes even as polling for the MCD elections was underway.

Hitting out at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari alleged that their "repeated" violations of the Model Code of Conduct were proof of the Arvind Kejriwal-led party's "anarchic" nature.

The BJP alleged that Sisodia, during an interview with a private news channel today, appealed to the people to vote for the AAP in the MCD elections.

In the statement, Tiwari alleged that the repeated violations of the Model Code of Conduct by AAP leaders, including during the Assembly elections in Delhi, Punjab and Goa, were proof of Kejriwal's party's "anarchic nature".

Polling to elect Delhi's municipal councillors ended at 5.30 pm on Sunday with a voter turnout of around 53.43 percent. Polling was held in 270 wards of the three municipal corporations. In two wards, the election was postponed due to the death of candidates.

A total of 1,32,10,206 voters were entitled to exercise their franchise to elect the councillors for the 270 wards under the three corporations -- NDMC (103 wards), SDMC (104) and EDMC (63).
