BJD confident of sailing through trust vote
The Chief Minister had paraded 75 of the 147 MLAs before the Governor.

Bhubaneshwar: Ahead of the crucial trial of strength of the Naveen Patnaik government in Orissa on Wednesday, the ruling BJD was on Tuesday confident of sailing through.

"Our government is absolutely safe. While the chief minister has submitted a list of 76 supporting MLAs to the governor, more legislators are likely to vote in favour," BJD's Secretary General Damodar Rout said on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister had paraded 75 of the 147 MLAs before Governor M C Bhandare on March 11 after withdrawal of support by the BJP.

The ruling BJD, which has 61 members including the Speaker Kishore Mohanty, has received the support of legislators belonging to JMM (4), NCP (2), CPI (1) and CPI(M) (1).

In addition, seven of the eight independent members have also extended support, while another has decided to abstain from voting during the floor test.

The Speaker said all arrangements have been made for Wednesday's special session.
