Lucknow: Congress leader Beni Prasad Verma once again took a dig at Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, this time reminding him of his alleged involvement in the Tatra truck scam.
The Congress leader who often gets into controversies for his comments said on Sunday, "The CBI is probing Mulayam Yadav's role in the 600 crore Tatra truck scam. He was Defence minister when the deal was renewed."
He warned Mulayam saying that the case was still alive and could surface anytime, thus creating a problem for him.
Beni cautioned Mulayam saying that if Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi became the PM, it would spell more trouble for him.
"The case is alive and can emerge anytime. If Rahul Gandhi becomes PM, then Mulayam is in trouble," he said.
As of the latest development in the Tatra truck scam, the Enforecement Directorate had registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in April, 2013 against Vectra Chairman Ravi Rishi and few other firms after former Army chief Gen V K Singh had alleged that he was offered a Rs 14 crore bribe in September, 2010 to clear the purchase of a tranche of 1,676 Tatra trucks for the Army.
