Arms seizures to continue in Bengal: Mamata
According to Mamata, no post-poll political violence is taking place in the state.

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said police will continue their drive to seize illegal arms in the state as more weapons were today recovered in West Midnapore district.

Talking to reporters in Kolkata, she said that although her party had been demanding seizure of illegal arms for the past two years, the erstwhile Left Front government did not pay any heed.

"We have now asked the police to recover the illegal arms. The police have been asked to work impartially. Our priority is to maintain law and order without looking at political affiliations," she said.

According to her, no post-poll political violence is taking place in the state.

"Small incidents are taking place, but these are not political clashes. Other parties are involved in this." Mamata appealed to the people to inform police if they had information about illegal arms and not to take the law into their hands.

Asked whether she had ordered any enquiry on the recovery of arms from near a CPM office at Enayatpur in West Midnapore district on Sunday, she replied, "The police are doing whatever is needed to be done.

"They have already begun an enquiry. Let the police do its work. I will let you know if I have anything to say."

Meanwhile, more illegal arms were seized from behind the house of a CPM leader and a Marxist party office in West Midnapore district.
