Mumbai: At least 11 MPs from Maharashtra have not utilised funds allotted for development of their constituencies, according to a report of the Maharashtra Comptroller and Auditor General.
The MPs who have underutilised their MP Local Area Development funds, include Nationalist Congress Party's Praful Patel, Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, and Hema Malini.
Patel and Hema haven't utilised almost to 60 per cent of their Rs 10 crore fund entitlement.
Pritish Nandy and Lata Mangeshkar were amongst those who did not utilise their MPLAD funds at all.
More than Rs 200 crore of Central funds remains unallocated and unspent due to non-recommendation of works the report presented in the Maharashtra Legislative Council on Friday said.
The report said the 11 MPs were entitled to receive Rs 88 crore from 2003 to 2008 but utilised just Rs 28.81 crore.
