UPSC CSE 2021: The exam which was scheduled to be held on June 27 will now be held on October 10.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has postponed the Civil Services preliminary exam 2021. The exam which was scheduled to be held on June 27 will now be held on October 10. The exam has been deferred due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Due to the prevailing conditions caused by the Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), the Union Public Service Commission has deferred the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2021, which was scheduled to be held on 27th June, 2021. Now, this Examination will be held on 10th October 2021,” the official notice read.

The move by UPSC is being welcomed by aspirants who had been demanding deferment and extension in the number of attempts for the civil services exam due to the pandemic.

UPSC Civil Services Examination 2021 has notified 712 vacancies including 22 vacancies for Persons with Benchmark Disability Category. This is a decline from last year when 796 posts were advertised by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) under CSE. The last time UPSC CSE had advertised for over 1,000 jobs was in 2016.

The UPSC conducts the civil services exam every year to fill Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS) level jobs. To be selected for the job, candidates have to clear preliminary test, mains, followed by a personality interview.

Along with CSE 2021 prelims UPSC has changed the schedule for several other exams including Employment Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) Exam 2020, Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2020 interviews etc.
