Uber Driver Puts Up 'Don't Call Me Bhaya' Notice on Car Seat in Ultimate 'Boss' Move
An Uber driver's 'don't call me bhaya and uncle' notice has Twitter scrambling to come up with alternatives.

Uber drivers’ sense of humour and social skills are often the subjects of many a Twitter threads, and this one is as colourful as we have come to expect. A Twitter user, Sohini M, shared a photo of a notice that an Uber driver put up on the back of a seat: “Don’t call me bhaya & uncle.” Sounds like a fair demand; however, it did end up creating a debate on how people should address people whom they don’t know. Twitter users suggested everything from “boss” to “[name] ji” and “bro”. The jury is still out on which one’s the best.

Uber India responded, saying, “When in doubt, check the name on the app.”

Recently, another honest response from an Uber driver went viral on Twitter. Ria Kasliwal, who is a Delhi-based Twitter user, shared a screenshot of her conversation with a cab driver. In the image, she can be seen asking the driver if he was coming, to which he responds “Mann nahi karta,” meaning, “I don’t feel like it.”

“Best Uber guy ever. At least he was honest. Otherwise, “Aa raha hu”, and either the cab keeps rotating at the same place or he/she instantly cancels,” commented a Twitter user. Another person wrote, “Monday uthke kaam me jaane ka “Mann nahi karta.”

The stories about Uber drivers don’t just involve hilarity, but also kindness. A LinkedIn user shared the story of how an Uber driver arranged seats for him after knowing he had had no sleep and took him to a restaurant, where he took care of him like his own son.
