Delhi, known for its rich heritage, is home to one of the most ancient temples in the country. Among the many sacred sites across the city, the ancient Kali Mandir is one of the oldest and most revered temples. Devotees believe that every wish made at this temple is granted, adding to its mystique and appeal.
This remarkable Kali temple is situated near Shivaji Stadium in Connaught Place. Ved Prakash Mishra, the temple’s priest since 1996, shared with Local 18 that the temple was once known as Raja Bazaar, where the Kuldevi (family deity) temple stood.
A 500-Year-Old Legacy
The temple’s history dates back over 500 years. During the British era, as New Delhi was being established, it is believed that the goddess herself appeared in the form of a Shivling at the temple. Despite the British’s efforts to remove the temple, it remained steadfast, further strengthening the devotees’ faith. The temple’s enduring presence is a testament to its significance and miraculous reputation.
What sets this temple apart is the presence of various deities in it. Here, devotees can also find idols of Mata Vaishno Devi, Khatu Shyam, and Tirupati Balaji, making it a spiritual hub for worshippers in Delhi.
To visit the Kali temple, take the metro to RK Ashram station, and from there, an auto can easily take you to this ancient and revered site.
