Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday virtually interacted with Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Google and Alphabet Sundar Pichai.
During the talks, Pichai and Modi discussed Google’s plans to expand its electronic manufacturing ecosystem in India. PM Modi also praised the tech giant’s partnership with HP to manufacture Chromebooks in India, said a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Prime Minister also exchanged views on Google’s 100 languages initiative and encouraged Pichai to make AI tools available in Indian languages.
The PM also boosted Sundar Pichai to make AI tools capable of good governance.
PM Modi also welcomed Google’s plans to introduce its global fintech operations centre at the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) in Gandhinagar. Pichai apprised Modi about the tech giant’s plans to improve financial inclusion in India by leveraging GPay and UPI.
He also focussed on Google’s commitment to contribute to the development trajectory of India.
PM Modi also invited Sundar Pichai to New Delhi to participate in the Global Partnership on AI Summit in December 2023.
Earlier this year, Sundar Pichai met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During his US visit, Modi along with US President Joe Bident met with CEOs including Apple’s Tim Cook, and Microsoft’s Satya Nadella.
“His vision for Digital India was way ahead of its time. I now see it as a blueprint other countries are looking to do. The follow-through of scaling up India’s digital stack is a model other countries are thinking about,” Pichai said after meeting Modi.

Sundar Pichai also informed PM Modi that Google will invest USD 10 billion in the digitization fund of India.
