NEET 2021 Result: Over 16 lakh students who had registered for the medical entrance exam – National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021 — can expect the results within this month. Currently, the second phase of application edit is going on and candidates have to ensure that they complete this phase as well else their result might get cancelled.
Once the second phase of NEET 2021 registrations is over, students can expect the preliminary answer key to be out. A preliminary answer key is released first wherein students are allowed to raise objections if any and submit the same online.
The objections will be studied and the final answer key will be released. The objections which will be accepted will be incorporated in the final answer key. The result will be created on the basis of the final answer key.
After completing the process, the result will be declared. As per the trend of past years, NEET result is announced within a month of holding the exam. Thus, this year it falls around October 12, however, students can expect the same anytime after October 10.
Students can also calculate their scores using the answer key by awarding themselves four marks for every correct answer and deduct one mark for every wrong attempt.
The rank calculation criteria has been changed a bit this year. In NEET 2021, the ties between two students will be resolved in this order— candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in biology subject will be given preference, followed by higher marks in chemistry and if a tie still remains then the candidate with less proportion of attempted incorrect answers in all the subjects will be favoured. Age as a tie-breaking criterion has been removed.
NEET result is declared by NTA, however, the admission and counselling process is run by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). After the result declaration, students will have to register for the counselling process and they will be called for counselling based on merit.
The counselling takes place at both the central and state level. As many as 15% of all undergraduate seats come under central quota or All India quota. The new reservation will be added to the AIQ segment. This year, for the first time the EWS and OBC reservations will be included. Under the AIQ, 15% reservation is offered to SC and 7.5% to ST category students. Now, students hailing from other backward class categories (OBC) will get 27%, and those from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) will get 10% reservation.
