Not one, not two but five, a woman in Mumbai’s Mulund suffered five heart attacks over the past 16 months and has luckily lived through it.
The 51-year-old has five stens fitted and undergone six angioplasties and one cardiac bypass surgery.
According to a TOI report, Rekha (name changed), was recently in the cath lab on December 1 and 2, seeking clarity about her health condition and concerns about potential future blockages.
Her initial heart attack occurred during a train journey from Jaipur to Borivali in September 2022, where she was promptly taken to a public hospital in Ahmedabad by railway authorities.
Recounting her journey, she mentioned that the doctors referred her to Mumbai for an angioplasty, currently residing at Fortis Hospital, Mulund.
While speaking to TOI, her cardiologist since July, Dr. Hasmukh Ravat, remarked that the cause of Rekha’s heart issues remains unknown, despite her prior angioplasties and bypass surgery.
Various experts, including several consulted doctors, suspect that an autoimmune condition like vasculitis, characterized by inflammation and constriction of blood vessels, might be the underlying cause.
The test outcomes, however, have failed to provide a definitive diagnosis so far.
Rekha has been dealing with other chronic conditions like diabetes, high cholesterol, and obesity. In September 2022, she weighed 107 kg but has since shed over 30 kg.
