After getting his dose of COVID-19 vaccine, Delhi University’s vice-chancellor, Prof PC Joshi has urged faculty members, non teaching staff and students to get vaccinated. Stating that he did not have a fever or any other side-effects post his vaccination Joshi in a video message said, “Together India will defeat Covid 19.”

Joshi informed via the video message that he got the Covaxin vaccine. It is developed indigenously by Bharat Biotech. While he asked people to be vaccinated he also asked them to follow COVID-friendly behaviour including washing hands, wearing mask, and maintaining social distance.

Closed since mid-March, the University of Delhi had announced to reopen gradually. In an official statement released in February, DU had allowed final-year students who need access to laboratories and have practical classes to return to campus. Access to common facilities was to remain shut, as per the university guidelines. For students who opt to return to campuses, theory classes were to continue online.

Meanwhile, Delhi University is holding open-book exams for students across undergraduate, postgraduate levels. Students will have the option to appear for the exams from the location of their convenience. As per reports, nearly 2.5 lakh candidates are expected to appear for these exams starting March 15. DU had last year also conducted exams online along with conducting its classes digitally.

The varsity had for the first time held its admission process entirely online this year due to the pandemic. As compared to 2019, in 2020 over one lakh more applications were submitted at DU for admission to various courses. This year, the varsity is expected to hold the admission process based on cut-off/ board exam merit and the rest based on entrance criteria. For admission to DU, NTA holds the entrance exams. The dates for new admission session are yet to be out.
