The Srinagar Police arrested three suspected members of The Resistance Front (TRF) on Thursday for terror related incidents in the Valley, sources told News18.

Danish and Imtiaz Khande are possibly Over Ground Workers (OGW) of TRF but their association with terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) cannot be ruled out, the police sources said. The third member has been identified as Mehran.

Top police sources said the recent terror incidents in Kashmir could have a Jaish link. The police believe that the arrest of the three men will open more leads for them.

Last week, a terrorist attack took place in Srinagar in which a policeman got injured. The attack took place during the wreath-laying ceremony of one J&K Inspector Mansoor Ahmad Wani in the city where his family and colleagues had come to pay their last respects to him.

Wani was shot dead by Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist when he was playing cricket in Srinagar in October. He died in All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Delhi.

Last month, six militants were killed in two operations in Jammu and Kashmir. In the Pir Panjal Valley of Jammu, one was killed during an anti-militancy operation in Rajouri. The police said the terrorist was neutralised at Behrot in the Budhal area of Rajouri.

The police identified the slain militants as Yasir Bilal Bhat, alias Humais from K.G. Raina Wanpoh; Danish Hameed Thoker from Chakoora, Shopian; Ubaid Ahmad Padder from Chakoora, Shopian; Sameer Farooq Sheikh from Chak Cholend, Shopian; and Hanzal Yaqoob Shah, alias Hanzilla from Rawalpora, Shopian.

“All the killed terrorists were linked to the Resistance Front of the Lashkar-e-Taiba,” the police said.

The TRF, which was declared as a “terrorist organisation” under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act this year, came into existence in 2019 as the shadow organisation of Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The ministry had earlier this year said that the TRF was involved in “psychological operations on social media platforms for inciting people of Jammu and Kashmir to join terrorist outfits against the Indian State”.
