Actor Vikram Kochhar, who was in the recent Shah Rukh Khan movie Dunki, talked about working with Vicky Kaushal for the film. Vikram played the role of Balindar “Buggu” Lakhanpal in the comedy-drama. He recalled an incident when Vicky Kaushal and him got drunk before a scene to enhance their acting. He also spoke about drinking with Bobby Deol while filming Ashram.
During a chat with Siddharth Kannan, the actor recalled, “I was a little tipsy. Vicky bhai drank a lot more than us. He was like, ‘Peete kyun nahi ho, piyo (Why aren’t you drinking? Drink).’ We were worried about the scene getting spoilt because on one side, there was Rajkumar sir, and on another side, there was Vicky bhai who was insisting that we will do the scene properly after drinking. So, we were in a turmoil. Anil (Grover) and I were looking at each other.”
“Vicky boldly accepted that we have to drink a little bit for such scenes. But we were looking at him and thinking, ‘He has said it, but how do we accept it, what about our impression?’ It was the initial days of the shoot also. But he (Rajkumar Hirani) didn’t say anything; he didn’t embarrass us,” Vikram added.
While Vikram drank with Vicky for a scene, he drank with his Ashram co-star Bobby Deol for fun and ended up vomiting that night since his body rejects alcohol. He said, “When I was doing Ashram, Bobby sir said, ‘Kaisa Punjabi hai, daaru nahi pii sakta? (What kind of a Punjabi you are that you cannot drink?)’ I told him, ‘It’s not by choice, but my body rejects alcohol. I am allergic to smoke also.’ Still, he offered me a ‘Patiala peg’. After drinking it, I was vomiting in my room.”
Vikram said that Bobby loves drinking, and during the shoot of Ashram, he loved to party with the entire cast
