For those not aware, before directing films like John Wick, Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2 and Bullet Train, David Leitch was himself a stunt performer, who performed stunts for Hollywood A-listers like, Matt Damon, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Brad Pitt.
Meanwhile, the original television series The Fall Guy had a successful run on ABC, with 113 episodes from 1981 to 1986. The series featured Lee Majors in the role of Colt and Heather Thomas as Jody Moreno. The show followed Colt’s double life as a stuntman during the day and a bounty hunter by night. He skillfully used his talents to capture criminals. Meanwhile, there are even rumours of a cameo appearance by Lee in the upcoming film.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, director David Leitch said, “It is one of those TV shows from my generation of stunt performers that really lit our fuse and come to Hollywood with hopes of being Colt. So it was really a no-brainer when the property came to us. It had been in development for many years and it had different incarnations and different people attached. Then it came to us through Guymon Casady, who had secured the rights and asked, ‘Hey, would you be interested?’ We were like, ‘Interested? Are you insane? Of course we would be interested’.”
The Fall Guy, featuring the talented Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, is set to hit theatres on March 1, 2024.
