Sunny Leone Opens Up On Deepfake Videos Months After Rashmika Mandanna's Viral Clip: 'The System Is...'
Sunny Leone's comment comes months after a morphed video of Rashmika Mandanna went viral on social media.

Sunny Leone opened up about deepfake videos months after Rashmika Mandanna’s viral clip left netizens shocked and worried. Sunny was speaking to India Today recently when she argued that it has happened to her too in the past. The actress mentioned that even though one cannot take many precautions, one can always file a complaint when such incidents take place.

“It’s a menace that’s been going on for a long time. It’s not a recent issue as many believe it to be,” Sunny said.

“These things have happened to me but honestly, I don’t think about it much. I don’t let it affect me psychologically or mentally. But there are young girls who have to sometimes face the stigma, but they should understand it’s not their fault. They did nothing wrong. If something like this happens, they can always go to the cyber cell and brief the officers about the case. Tell them your identity and likeness has been misused. The police will take action. And even on social media, there is technical help available where you can report these issues. The system is with you, you just need to do it,” the actress added.

Sunny Leone’s comment comes months after a morphed video of Rashmika Mandanna went viral on social media. In the clip, the woman with Rashmika’s face was seen getting into a lift, wearing a fitted outfit. However, it was soon clarified that the viral clip was deepfake. It grabbed everyone’s attention after superstar Amitabh Bachchan also took to the microblogging site X and demanded legal action. Later, several celebrities including Nani, Vijay Deverakonda, Naga Chaitanya and Mrunal Thakur among others also expressed concern over the viral video.

While Rashmika also expressed concern over the viral video, an FIR was filed in connection to the incident under sections 465 (forgery) and 469 (forgery for the purpose of harming reputation) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 66C and 66E of the Information Technology Act at the IFSO unit of the Delhi Police’s Special Cell. The probe in the case is currently underway.
