Actress Gayatri Joshi, best known for her role opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the 2004 acclaimed movie Swades, escaped a fatal car accident in Sardinia while travelling with her husband, Vikas Oberoi. The horrifying car crash involving a Ferrari, a Lamborghini and a camper van occurred on a rural road in Sardinia in which an elderly couple from Switzerland died.
According to multiple media reports, the collision took place when a red Ferrari and a blue Lamborghini attempted to overtake the camper van at the same time, causing it to overturn. Tragically, the Ferrari caught fire, claiming the lives of the elderly couple inside, identified as Melissa Krautli, 63, and Markus Krautli, 67, from Switzerland, according to a report by Free Press Journal. The car crash was captured on camera and a video of the same has been going viral on the internet.

Gayatri confirmed the news of her accident to Free Press Journal and said that she and her husband were doing “absolutely fine”. “Vikas and I are in Italy. We met with an accident here… With gods grace, we both are absolutely fine,” she was quoted as saying by the portal

Gayatri bagged the Femina Miss India International in 2000 and made her acting debut with Ashutosh Gowariker’s Swades. She starred opposite Shah Rukh Khan as Geeta in the critically-acclaimed movie. Despite earning much appreciation for her performance in the movie, Gayatri made an abrupt exit from Bollywood. She tied the knot with businessman Vikas Oberoi in 2005 and the couple shares two kids together.
