Australia’s Glenn Maxwell sealed his name in World Cup history with his sensational knock where he scored a double hundred in a crucial fixture against Afghanistan in the World Cup 2023. Many would have thought Afghanistan had the game in their hands having scored a decent total of 291 runs in their quota whilst also cleaning up their frontline batters for a mere 87 runs.

Glenn Maxwell was the last specialist batter standing with Pat Cummins on the other end. Maxwell managed to finish the game having scored 201 in 128 deliveries while the skipper held the fort with 12 runs coming off 68 deliveries. The pair managed to put up a partnership worth 200 runs as well to win the game.
Some records were also broken as Maxwell managed to surpass the Indian legend, Kapil Dev for the highest score posted by a batter in the number six position. The pair of Maxwell and Cummins also now holds the record for the highest eighth-wicket partnership in the history of the ODI World Cup as well.

Australia now has secured its spot in the semi-finals of the World Cup after suffering tough losses to both India as well as South Africa in the tournament.
The Aussies who have had the best track record in the history of the World Cup managed to find their way yet again as they managed to go on a six-game winning streak after their first two losses.
